Story Summary

Suzanne finally achieves a breakthrough in the production of artificial organs that could save her terminally ill father, among others. Just as she is about to go public with the results of her research, her son Florian is kidnapped. The search for those responsible leads to discussions about the meaning of life, consumption, suffering, nature, the climate and new medical approaches. They shake her world view. The influential organization behind the kidnapping has inexhaustible means to enforce its demands. In addition, Florian falls seriously ill and it is uncertain whether he will make it out alive.
