Compatible Apps & Devices
We sell ePub files protected with Readium LCP. To open them, you’ll need a compatible app or device. Many apps already support this format, and the list is growing. Below are some recommended options, though you’re welcome to use any compatible app.
For a more complete list, see the EDRLab catalogue.
Applications
LCP-protected ePubs can be read on all major platforms — Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux — as long as you use a compatible app.
FBReader (Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, Linux)
Our primary recommendation. Created by our founding company, FBReader is a versatile eBook reader that supports cloud synchronization of books, reading positions, and bookmarks across your devices. The Android version is optimized for e-ink displays, making it especially suitable for e-readers like Onyx Boox and Meebook.
However, it may struggle with books that feature complex formatting (e.g. scientific texts with many tables or graphs).
Thorium Reader (Windows, Mac, Linux)
Developed by EDRLab, Thorium is the backbone of many LCP-compatible readers. It offers full support for ePub features and is an excellent choice for handling highly formatted content.
Cantook by Aldiko (Android, iOS)
A popular mobile reader that supports LCP-protected ePubs and PDFs. Cantook offers an intuitive user experience and is a good option for reading on the go.
Devices
PocketBook E-Readers
PocketBook devices, including models like the InkPad 4, Verse Pro, and Era, support LCP-protected files and provide a dedicated reading experience with extensive format support.
inkBOOK Devices
inkBOOK e-readers, such as Calypso Plus and Focus, are compatible with LCP-protected EPUB and PDF files, offering a comfortable and customisable reading experience.
Incompatible devices
Proprietary platforms such as Kindle do not support LCP-protected files. Unless the device runs Android, like the Kindle Fire, it is unlikely that you will be able to read our books on these e-readers.
