About us

The story of Readino begins long before the shop itself. Nearly twenty years ago, Nikolay Pultsin created FBReader, a reading app that quickly found its way onto millions of devices worldwide. Known for its flexibility and simplicity, FBReader has become a trusted companion for readers who want to enjoy books anywhere.

Nikolay leads FBReader.ORG Limited — the company behind FBReader — and its sister company FBReader Books Limited. FBReader.ORG Limited is a member of EDRLab, the organisation that shapes open standards for digital publishing.

Out of this long journey came a new idea: to create a bookshop that shares the same spirit of openness and care for readers. That is how Readino, run by FBReader Books Limited, was launched in November 2025.

Openness is at the heart of everything we do. For readers, we explain our approach in detail on a dedicated page. For developers, Readino is designed to be open to integration with third-party apps, encouraging collaboration and innovation across the digital reading world.

Although still young, Readino already gives you access to over 1.5 million titles, delivered in ePub format with LCP protection — meaning your books are secure, readable across devices, and not locked to any single app or platform.

Currently serving readers in the UK, the US, and Australia, we plan to add PDFs, reach more countries, and grow our catalogue so you'll always find something new to read.
