Crown Prince Gustav of Monaco has never been the same after the sudden death of his beloved wife, Princess Jasmine. His health has deteriorated—and so has his mental health. He veers wildly between being catatonic, belligerent, combative, and depressed.

All of that is about to change when vivacious, bubbly, outgoing Ariane Vérany comes to work at the palace to replace the wardrobe mistress who has suddenly died. Ariane's caring, affectionate nature turns Gustav's world upside down, but Ariane has demons from her own past who won't go as quietly into that good night as Gustav might hope they will.
