Pushing Shadows

Falling light skims the earth,

like flat stones on water,

pushing shadows through trees

creating illusions

Julie Hyndman

In her debut collection of heartfelt, powerful poems, Australian poet Julie Hyndman reflects on life, love, and nature while retelling personal experiences, sharing thoughts, and inspiring others.

Hyndman, a seasoned poet, columnist, and blogger, opens her heart and allows a glimpse inside while exploring her memories of love lost, love gained, the beauty of nature, the pain of grief, the writing process, and death. Included in her collection are vivid descriptions of her inspiration for selected poems.

Pushing Shadow shares one woman's poetic journey through her life as she lyrically observes the past, embraces the present, and looks forward to the future.

Julie Hyndman is gifted at describing what's in front of her—the result is often the finely observed, now shimmering, from whole lifetimes of before.
