Introduction

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with women who struggle with low self-esteem and negative body image, I hesitated to read a book entitled Perfect Woman. Because I believe in women not perfection.

About the Book

In his work Perfect Woman, author Jesse Stockard takes a different look at perfection in women. The poems in this book describe perfection as it is found in nature, and asserts that a woman in her natural state of being possesses the same sort of perfection.

Impact and Message

The poems in this book challenged me to move away from the idea that women must fix their flaws and conform to the media's example of perfection. Rather, this book encourages women to simply be confident and strong in their natural selves, and to look toward nature for a true example of perfection. A fine and profound piece of work.
