Pam Gems: Plays One

Includes the plays Piaf, Camille and Queen Christina

Three plays focusing on the lives of incredible women. Characterised by vivid stagecraft and life-affirming humour, they offer unflinching views of social and sexual relations.

Piaf documents the triumphs and disasters of the great French singer. In Camille the doomed courtesan of Dumas's classic novel discovers love but is unable to escape her old life. Queen Christina is the story of a female monarch raised with education and freedom, but as an adult expected to do little more than marry and bear children.
