Beautiful Top-Down Sweaters with Decorative Yokes
A great place to start when you're new to garment knitting!
Classic Yoke Sweaters
Never go out of style. A colorwork yoke can elevate a simple knitted sweater by adding a decorative element at the neckline.
Knitting Patterns
This collection features designs for twelve different sweaters, inspiring you to pick up your needles.
Design Details
Knitting pattern designer and author, Olga Putano, has created three basic sweater patterns for different yarn weights: DK; fingering (sock or 4ply); and worsted (aran). There are patterns for four different yoke designs for each of these basic sweaters.
Suitability and Techniques
Since the patterns use only two colors in a row, they are suitable for beginner to intermediate knitters but also appealing to experienced knitters. Step-by-step instructions are provided for cable stitches and other special techniques.
Construction Method
All sweaters are knitted top-down and in the round, eliminating the need for sewing at the end. The yoke is knitted in one piece, increasing until the correct circumference is reached. The body and sleeves are then knitted separately in the round, allowing you to adjust the length for a perfect fit by trying it on as you go.
