Of One Mind

Story Summary

Two children are born on opposite ends of the country; each one is endowed with gifts and abilities that the world has no language for and cannot accept.

Eventually, they attract the attention of the government, and a special team is dispatched to investigate.

The team concludes that the children could pose a threat to our government, perhaps to our way of life.

The decision is made to remove them from their homes and place them in protective custody.

In the months and years that follow many different groups, both foreign and domestic, threaten their existence.

Can the government actually protect them, and who will protect them from the government?

Daily they dream of escaping, becoming unremarkable, and vanishing into ordinary life.

The world has long fingers, and they discover that even the threshold of death may not be enough to save them.
