When writing this book Marlene cried over every chapter and relived it again in her mind. She still cannot believe just how bad things were growing up in Brazil.

Her Early Life

After her mother died, she was shuffled from home to home after being given away from her dad. Marlene learned at a very early age how to survive the daily fight and trust in everyday life.

Overcoming Challenges

So many people took advantage of her, taking her money she earned working in the fields and cleaning houses. Thinking she found love and getting pregnant, then being alone with her baby, she struggled to find a place to live and keep her safe.

The Story Within

This book tells how she had to fight to keep a room to live in, how to feed her and the baby every day, and stop people from stealing from her. What a true story you only see in the movies, but she actually lived it.
