Medusa
History didn't get Medusa wrong. It buried her.
You were told she was a monster. Snakes for hair. A stone gaze. A cautionary tale waiting to be slain. That version was engineered — clean, simple, and completely false.
The real Medusa was something far more dangerous.
A princess. A warrior. The heir to a hidden kingdom deep in the African jungle — a civilization built on venom and gold, so advanced it had to be erased from history entirely. She didn't hide in caves. She didn't wait for heroes. She made them irrelevant.
A lion walked at her side. A living blade obeyed her hand and no one else's. She spoke every language of the ancient world — and understood the one no human was supposed to learn.
So they rewrote her.
They said Perseus killed her. They called her cursed. They reduced her to a victim.
That's what conquerors do when they meet something they can't control. They turn it into a myth.
