Lectures on Greek Philosophy
A Critical Examination of Plato, Aristotle, and the Pre-Socratics
Lectures on Greek Philosophy
Drawn from lectures delivered by the Scottish philosopher James Frederick Ferrier, this collection critiques the foundations of Greek philosophy through historical scholarship.
First issued in 1866 as part of his philosophical writings, Ferrier's lectures present a sweeping survey of early Greek thought, tracing its development from the Pre-Socratic natural philosophers Thales and Anaxagoras through to Plato and Aristotle.
This volume also includes a critical examination of Aristotle's logical writings.
Scholarly yet provocative, Lectures on Greek Philosophy remains a valuable resource for readers interested in Greek thought, nineteenth-century idealism, and the enduring philosophical debate between sensation and reason.
