Industrial geography is a branch of geography that deals with location, raw materials, products, and distribution, as influenced by geography. Industries are composed of companies. Companies make location decisions to open and close facilities of different production capabilities. These create the “geography of the firm.

Because of the multiplicity of industries and the diverse nature of the production process on one hand and the universal significance of industry on the other, the distribution of industry is determined by a complex interplay of various factors.

Industrial geography is broken up into general industrial geography, industrial branch geography, and regional industrial geography.
