What does cultural analysis have to offer development studies?

Is culture a new paradigm for the study of development or a minefield of theoretical confusion? Can we move beyond notions of global culture and local culture to a more refined notion of cultural processes?

This collection of articles addresses these issues providing a diversity of approaches. Two themes in particular run through the contributions: the relationship between culture and political economy and the relationship between local and global processes.
