This book is the famous diary account of a Lieutenant-Colonel of the Marine Corps, Dr. Gordon Stifler Seagrave, who served in the armed forces in China, Burma and India, set up a military hospital, and ended up running a triage/surgery unit in World War II as the allies retreated from the Japanese advance.
