Benjamin
And the “Fredrickson Girls”
After the close of the American Civil War
Men went back to what had been home. For many of them it meant starting over to rebuild a new life. Such was the case with Benjamin Franklin Harris, an eighteen-year-old boy turned into a man.
Traveling, or in his case walking, west with a group of ex-war friends, God directed him to an immigrant German farmer who wanted nothing more than to be a good American and see his daughters married. Hans and Bessie Fredrickson took Benjamin into their home and became his new family.
