The Power of the Spoken Word

The spoken word is uniquely our purview as human beings. We use it often and well to communicate. Yet, too often, something we should have or could have said goes unspoken.

Sometimes we communicate in song or action or gesture without need of words. Sometimes the circumstance of the moment allows us to transcend verbal communication.

At times our words are directed at ourselves and they remain our unvoiced thoughts (which can make very nice poems!).

The poems in this book give voice to many of these words not spoken.
