About the Book

This children's book describes what the author has learned about the meaning of home. When her family was moving to a new neighborhood and her young children were struggling to say goodbye to their first home, friends, and memories, the author turned to bedtime stories to ease their worries.

Purpose and Themes

She used this story to teach her children and reflect on all the different homes she and many others had throughout life. Through the experience she created a story that allows you to talk to your children about immigration, displacement, housing insecurity, and homelessness.
