Dialogue

“Good evening,” said the burglar.

“Good evening,” returned Mrs. Brown, mechanically, while the cold chills ran up and down her back. Then, as if wakened by her own voice, she tried to get up; but the burglar said quietly (you must remember that he had a pistol in his hand loaded and cocked): “Don’t move, and don’t be frightened; I am not going to hurt you if you keep still.”
