Kumi Takura, acclaimed Taiso in the shogun's sixteenth-century samurai army, returns home after a long absence to find his sick father is about to lose his province for non-payment of tax dues.
Discovering the taxes have been collected and converted by his father's unscrupulous chancellor, Takura dispenses quick justice, only to find that settling one dispute leads to others. He finds himself fighting a full-scale war to achieve justice, but his actions lead his sweetheart and a suspicious shogun to suspect his motives.
