In Victorian England

On the last day of his long life, Richard Sutcliffe tells of his passionate affair with "The Sultan's Woman". When he traveled to a provincial village as a young painter on his first commission, he is fascinated by a beautiful woman who gallops a giant black horse in and out of the sea.
