About the Book

This book is about Story Winterborne and the Big Book at the Library.

Characters and Plot

She has a best friend named Stormy Monday, who brings a new friend to Story's house to play. This new friend has a problem: her dad smokes. She offers a cigarette to Story and Monday, which leaves Story to tell the girls about the bad things she has read from the Big Book at the library on smoking.

Message and Resolution

Once she has finished letting them know that smoking is not good for them, the girls vow to never smoke, and they are lifelong smoke-free buddies.
