Story Summary

Kasy falls in love with Cain, but then Cain's actions and words cause her to question herself. She needs to make a decision, but she wants to stay alive. Kasy battles the question of why she can't leave. The physical and mental abuse tortures her, and the deceiving lies keep her captive.

Kasy's Reflection

Kasy writes: My life was a prison. There were many people that asked me why I don't leave him. They would say to me I was so stupid. And I remember crying myself to sleep, asking myself the same question: Why can't I just leave him?

Struggle with Depression

Depression overtook my life. The lies of the enemy were blinding me in leading me to believe that I never even needed the Lord Jesus. I felt multiple bricks attaching to my body, and one by one, the weight of the bricks made it difficult for me to stand tall with my head lifted high; each brick had a name.

Spiritual Battle

The devil was following me wherever I went, and yes, the devil was having a blazing blast twisting my loneliness.
