As a child, Chris thought he wanted to be a doctor, but a visit to a training ship convinced him that his future lay at sea. Jonathan on the other hand decided to study medicine but always had an hankering for faraway places, and had a rather romanticised view of the sea based on some of his father’s reminiscences.
