About the Book

This book is the twelfth volume of a sub-series on Road Vehicle Automation, published as part of the Lecture Notes in Mobility. It brings together original, peer-reviewed contents based on contributions presented during the plenary and breakout sessions of the Automated Road Transportation Symposium (ARTS 2024), held from July 29 to August 1, 2024, in San Diego, CA, USA.

The chapters were selected and reviewed by the editors in collaboration with leading experts in automated mobility who played key roles in organizing the symposium. Written by researchers, engineers, and analysts from around the world, the book offers a multidisciplinary exploration of both future directions and current implementation hurdles in road vehicle automation.

It showcases innovative approaches spanning public policy, business models, operational strategies, human factors, and technological developments.
