Resort

Resort is a property that lends itself to vacationers, recreation, or leisure activity because of its natural resources or beauty, or its improvements. Beaches, lakes, golf courses, and ski resorts are all considered resort properties. Resorts are places, towns or sometimes commercial establishment operated by a single company. Towns which are resorts " or where tourism or vacationing is a major part of the local activity " are sometimes called resort towns. Typically, the economy of a resort town is geared almost entirely towards catering to tourists, with most residents of the area working in the tourism or resort industry. Shops and luxury boutiques selling locally-themed souvenirs, motels, and unique restaurants often proliferate the downtown areas of a resort town. If the resorts or tourist attractions are seasonal in nature (such as a ski resort), resort towns typically experience an on-season where the town is bustling with tourists and workers, and an off-season where the town is populated only by a small amount of local year-round residents.

This book attempts to study various features of all the resorts and resort complexes in a larger geographical framework. It is designed for students seeking management careers in the hospitality sector. It offers broad coverage of the hospitality industry all in an easy to read style that is less theoretical and more industry relevant. It gives readers the industry knows how and the management skills need to thrive in all aspects of the field, from lodging to restaurant to resort management. It also features both historical perspectives and discussions of new trends in a variety of sectors related to hospitality industry.
