For months on end, Kimberly Vuis is the first to report live from the scene of every major crime in the city, leaving everyone, including her colleagues, to speculate about the source of her news tips.

The Tragic Turn

Her rendezvous with Chief Nick Fanning tragically results in the murder of the chief's wife. The chief is jailed as the murder suspect, but Kimberly believes he was set up and says so in a dramatic on-camera meltdown as she reports his booking at the county jail on live TV.

Consequences and Discoveries

The consequences of her seemingly outrageous claim result in a six-month suspension from her job, during which her own investigation exonerates the chief from the crime. During that process, however, she discovers the chief is a turn-the-other-way-for-cash conspirator in a human trafficking ring.
