Charlie McQuillen is an ex-military intelligence officer who served during World War II. After serving his country above and beyond the call of duty, he retired from the US Army and settled in Los Angeles, California. He then became a police investigator before trying his hand as a private investigator.
The Redhead
The Redhead is about a young British girl who turned out to be more than what Charlie was expecting. She needed help but was scared away by a couple of goons. Charlie thought he would never see her again, but this was not the case. She took him through a lot of excitement and danger, which he almost didn't survive.
Characters and Plot
Along the way, Charlie meets many savory characters, some harmless and others not so much. He has an ex-wife and a new girlfriend to take up his free time. Charlie follows clues wherever they lead, including a trip to New Mexico in search of answers. He still has a few army buddies he consorts with for fun and business. The story features a variety of model cars described in the book.
Conclusion
The adventure finally ends with the redhead, who may be in trouble or maybe not. Charlie makes it through and starts a new adventure for another time.
