Introduction
Attorney John Reynolds returns to his childhood home for the funeral of his father, the patriarch of the Reynolds family, Calvin Reynolds. Calvin was the wealthy owner of Riverdale Plantation, a 10,000 acre farm in South Georgia.
The Letter and the Clues
John Reynolds learns his father has left him a letter imploring him to investigate the disappearance of his brother, Jack, 30 years ago. The letter contains clues and implies dark secrets on Riverdale Plantation.
The Investigation
He follows the clues and learns his father was involved with a powerful criminal organization whose members are now in influential positions. He enlists the aid of his brother's best friend, now the Assistant Director of the GBI, to help him solve the mystery.
Personal Struggles and Discoveries
As John Reynolds follows the clues, he must also deal with memories of conflicts with his father, who had been cruel to him. He discovers he is investigating a dangerous group when he uncovers the murder of a former acquaintance who was about to reveal secrets.
Resolution
Though his life is in danger, he persists and ultimately solves the mystery of his brother's disappearance.
