We human beings have an unhealthy tendency to domesticate God—to fashion a comfortable, predictive deity who will cater to our whims and accommodate our preferences. Fortunately, for our sakes, the words and actions of the God revealed in Scripture are far more radical and provocative than any deity our imagination could concoct.
