The Free State of Winston

The Free State of Winston is a peaceful place anchored deep within the heart and soul of Cole McTavish from Winston County. Following the incident at Looney's Tavern on 4 July 1861, this adventurous young man sets out from the town of Double Springs to embark upon the path he has chosen for himself. The civil war has already begun while many fathers, sons, brothers, and husbands everywhere are facing individual life changing decisions concerning the main issue of slavery.

With the continued secession of the southern states from the Union, and now, the threat of Winston County to secede from the State of Alabama, Cole must believe he has made the right decision. Now, his very life will depend on it. The love of his country is the driving force behind the sole determination of this fearless young man. Will this be enough to bring him back to a place called Winston?
