Peace in a Palm
Experiencing Godly Peace in Poetry
About the Book
"Peace In A Palm" (Finding Godly Peace In My Poetry) is a collection of inspirational poems written by Beverly A. McLaughlin. The poetry she writes reflects her own human experiences.
Her Journey
After tragically losing her daughter three days after her 44th birthday, Beverly went on to raise her daughter's two children—one a 2-year-old and the other a boy born just before her daughter passed away the following day. Beverly and her husband of many years became missionaries, working with orphaned children in Kenya.
The Organization
They established FOSCIK, which stands for Friends Of Sheltered Children In Kenya. Much of Beverly's poetry is inspired by her experiences during her travels there.
Inspiration and Message
In her writing, Beverly hopes to inspire those facing tragic situations, letting them know that light does shine at the end of tunnels filled with darkness. She believes that it is possible to live again after tragedy, as she did after losing her daughter—by being given the opportunity to raise her grandchildren and care for other children.
Faith and Peace
Beverly shares that, despite challenging times, God was always there in the midst of whatever challenges she faced. She says, "God knew what I needed and He provided it." Most importantly, Beverly emphasizes that "through it all the most important thing was that His peace came to me in word form. Words that He fed to my spirit." She now wishes to share these words so others can experience the peace God gave her during her trials.
