About the Book

About the Characters

Kaufman's father, Abe, was a man of simple tastes, modest aspirations, and respectable accomplishments who dares, at age eighty-five, to open his heart in the face of a terminal illness. His son was not ready for it at first, having limited emotional reserves after his own son was diagnosed as irreversibly autistic.
