Summary

Barbara and Don were happily married for fifteen years until he died of colon cancer. Ever since his death, her heart has felt empty. But she has made an effort to move on with the help of her sister Rhoda and her work as a schoolteacher. She has slowly opened herself to new possibilities.

And then she meets Sam, a relatively younger man. They spend time together and love each other without committing to marriage. They are content with what they have at the moment, just keeping their feelings for each other in check until Sam is lured to the unknown opportunities offered by the cold state of Alaska.

Reality sinks in: Sam is moving away. But they are both mature enough to accept it—even if it hurts. Nineteenth of November is a poignant story of life and love.
