Nautical Jobs Hunter
First Steps Towards a Hospitality Career at Sea or on Land
Introduction
This pocket book was projected initially during a conversation with one of my best friends whose name is Sandro Pizarro, a restaurant manager in the UK. He knows my life and career at sea, land, hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc., and gave me the idea to publish an initial step career at sea/land, which I accepted straight away.
I had never heard about a book like this one—a book providing information on all the positions onboard luxury ocean cruises, yachts, ferries, hotels, and details on which certificates, diplomas, and courses each person needs to take before starting a career at sea/land. It covers hospitality departments, deck departments, and information on how to look for jobs safely without falling into scams on the internet.
My advice is never pay anyone to get a job. All companies have their career website areas, and they provide information on which agents they have in each country, including agencies and concessionaires.
How to Use This Book
Here in this book, you can learn how to proceed with your career safely and easily. All the certificates can be taken in any country. Usually, schools are located near the sea, but there are a few in the center of countries as well.
Applying for Jobs
When applying, send your CV to as many contacts as you have. If they delay answering, keep trying and show your interest. Onboard, be responsible and punctual in service. The job is hard but rewarding, and you have the opportunity to visit many countries and get paid for it. Remember, the most important thing is to love what you do, and you will do anything to succeed in your career.
