Pointing Out the Rules

How can I point out all the rules she placed, when the burden of culture is a mother’s weight?

If I cross a line, we all know which parent is to blame, how could I compare her to sitcom moms who have it all?

When our society sets women up to fail and to fall?

Separating Motherhood from Mother

When I separate my mother from motherhood, I feel her pain, of all the sacrifices made only to have it thrown back into your face.

I’m being cruel I know, I need to learn to let go, the standards that aren’t fair, of a fantasy impossible for any woman to achieve.

Seeking Connection

I am trying to let her in, to feel close to me now, to meet in a halfway place between our worlds.
