Introduction

Before the advent of electricity in many Arochukwu communities, families would gather outside the house of the compound chiefs on the nights of the full moon and tell stories to their children. The subjects of these stories are invariably fish, insects, or other animals with human-like qualities. These stories were used to impart life lessons to the children or to explain the world around them.

Purpose of the Book

The stories in this book have been passed from generation to generation, and my objective in writing these oral stories down is to preserve them for future generations.
