Dementia Overview

Dementia is a term that can involve many types of disabilities

resulting in the decline of memory, the ability to think and reason,

and the ability for persons to care for themselves. For dementia

to be considered, the symptoms must interfere with their daily

life. These symptoms need to involve more than one category

of brain function, such as memory, communication, judgment,

or language. Different dementias have different symptoms and

progress in different ways.
