Encounter at the Line

Mariah had been standing in line, waiting to check out when she looked over and saw him. He was gorgeous. He had the most crystal blue eyes she had ever seen. He was staring but trying not to stare at her. She looked down and touched her wedding ring and left. Click, Click. She pushed the button on her keys to open the door on her car.

The Unexpected Touch

That was when she felt a hand on hers. She looked up and there he was. Oh God, what now. She tried to move away and get into the car when he spoke:

Do you live around here? Can I buy you a cup of coffee? I have some time before my shift starts.

He was in his uniform, he worked for the Tucson Police Department. She had never seen him before, although the substation was just across the street and in her neighborhood.
