Marine Recreation and Its Significance

Marine recreation represents one of the most important uses of our marine and coastal environments. This is a natural result of three things; population density in coastal areas, increasing interest in outdoor recreation, and the special lure of the sea.

What the poet may think of as the lure of the sea, today’s recreation planner would consider a combination of resource-directed and image-directed desires.
