Kenitra McKenzie

Lives in Austin with her husband, Caleb, and their five-year-old son, Seth. She is an active member of her church along with her devoted husband. Her life was blessed, but a darkness looms in the form of Caleb's best friend, Dalton Anders.

The Conflict

Dalton resents her ever since she met Caleb in college and more so when their relationship blossomed into marriage. He goes out of his way to undermine their marriage in any way possible. Despite many chances Caleb gives him to make amends, it seems to do no good. Caleb is forced to end his longtime friendship with Dalton to protect his marriage and their son from Dalton's godly behavior, which he portrays negatively.

Dalton's Revenge

Dalton vows to get even with Kenitra, the woman he blames for destroying his friendship with Caleb. During Seth's sixth birthday party, he arranges an air show to set his revenge in motion. Dalton maliciously murders her beloved husband and his godson in front of her. He looks at her without remorse and leaves her for dead after shooting her, but his brutal attempt to kill her fails. He is convicted of murder and attempted murder.

After the Tragedy

Kenitra tries to piece her shattered life back together, but it is nearly impossible. Her mother-in-law constantly blames her for their deaths, and she begins to blame God, questioning why He didn't stop it. Her best friend, Stephanie, Caleb's sister, reminds her of what she no longer has. Feeling hopeless, Kenitra turns her back on Most High God and runs from everything that reminds her of her past life.

New Life in England

Kenitra travels from place to place until she settles in England. She lives there for years before moving to Kennebunk Beach, ME, where she meets a teenager named Mercedes Branden after converting an abandoned bar into a health food café. Mercedes gets a job working for her and introduces her brother on her first day of work.

Meeting Philip

Philip, a pastor, is immediately drawn to her and discovers Kenitra is agnostic and doesn't believe in God. Unaware that she would later become the woman of his dreams, Kenitra has no intention of falling for anyone, especially someone like Philip, since she resents his religious beliefs. Over time, her feelings for him change, and much to her surprise, she marries Philip 18 months later.

The Moral

Love heals a broken heart when God is doing the healing. Trust Him with all your problems because He has the answers.
