Long Run
Introduction
This book was for the family struggling in Sudan—which is now called South Sudan. It includes mum, dad, grandmother, me, and myself. The struggle was common to all adults and children over the years. Everyone seemed to be struggling, even though our children.
Personal Reflection
This book is particularly about my late father, who died fighting in South Sudan. I am still proud of him and grateful for what he did for me. I know that he fought for me even before I was born. Although he was not present in my life, my mum and I managed well to survive without him.
Family Heritage
My grandmother, who passed away, was the chief of war in World War I. He was killed by Arabs. He was the head of the army, which meant he was Bany of Anya Anya I during the fight. This person was one who started the liberation movement in South Sudan. Other leaders followed him in doing the same in Sudan. Thousands of heroes who have gone missing in South Sudan deserve respect. There are so many of them. It truly leaves us wounded with all our hearts.
Reflections on the Struggle
Including myself, when I came to Australia, I thought that was the first and last of looting. But bad things still happened. I saw a tragic event in 2005, when an airplane crashed. There was also the looting of my father, Doctor John Garang Mabior. The former leader of the SPLA during World War II, which led to the fight for the freedom of South Sudan.
