In 1553, as King Edward VI lay dying, a series of events were engineered to install Lady Jane Grey (1536-1554) on the throne.

She accepted reluctantly, only to be imprisoned and executed shortly thereafter by Edward’s sister Mary, who claimed the crown. The story of the young queen’s life and times is fascinating reading.
