About the Book

Two young officers write of their experiences at the only major naval engagement of the First World War — the battle of Jutland in 1916.

The first officer was writing to his parents in the immediate aftermath of the battle; the other, only 19 years of age, wrote to a wounded comrade of just 17, who had lost his leg in the war.
