My title refers to the journey Mother and I took into the world of Alzheimers. As I listen to others talk about their experiences, they also refer to it as a journey. In many ways that word accurately describes the experience. When you start out on a journey, you often meet many obstacles—twists and turns in the road—many joyful and some not so happy events occur. Much the same happens when you care for someone with Alzheimers. The road ahead is unknown—sometimes scary with many bumps, twists and turns—and sometimes precious and breathtakingly wonderful. I hope somehow that because of this book your experience may be less scary and much more precious.
