It was eons ago or longer than that. God was watching as Moses sat, brewing, stewing and agitating, mumbling, grumbling and contemplating what to do with the people he led.

For their behavior is driving him mad! They were fussing and cussing and acting so poorly that Moses wanted for certain and surely to show them a way to be happy again, but what could he do? How should he begin?
