is written for the curious reader who is trying to follow the often-contradictory economic explanations found in many public controversies. The book uses very few of the mathematical formulas and graphs found in most economic textbooks.

The book approaches the science or discipline of economics through concepts frowned in related disciplines. Topics covered are concepts from accounting, management science, physics, and the social sciences. Special emphasis is put on the theoretical and actual operations of market capitalism and state capitalism.

The book ends with a study of the cooperation and the competition between American financial capitalism and the Chinese totalitarian state capitalism.
