This is a comprehensive introduction with some emphasis of the fundamentals of the different processing steps, but, and pays attention also to the main powder metallurgy products including their applications.

Since the boundaries between powder metallurgy and advanced ceramics are not definitely fixed and since they are sometimes competitive products, the description of processing includes, to some extent, ceramic materials.

A short paragraph on advanced ceramics has been included.
