Inner Reality: A Practical Guide to the Architecture of Personal Experience

We usually focus on what happens around us. This book, however, is a guide to what happens within us. Reality is not just "out there" it arises through the constant interaction between the world and our perception. Simply close your eyes, stop moving, relax your face, and with curiosity, enter a space that is as much our own as our hands, as available and accessible at any time: our inner reality.

I believe I have found the simplest way to visit states that exist far beyond the ordinary frame of human experience. Without the need for long-term study, discipline, or training — the only thing you truly need is curiosity. By understanding and releasing mental constructs, you can surprisingly easily reach deep states, such as boundless space or disembodied consciousness.

This book offers a sober and clear perspective on the structure and mechanism of human consciousness. Do not expect esoteric theories, but rather direct observation and practical explanations of how our attention constructs meaning. We will walk through individual regions of the inner territory and explore, for instance, what constitutes our concept of embodiment and dimensions, how we perceive gravity, or what our true home looks like. You will discover that inner boundaries are not a prison, but a gift that enables existence, movement and true inner freedom.

It is a manual for anyone for whom the common understanding of life brings fatigue, dissatisfaction, absurdity, uncertainty, or suffering. The book will help you gain perspective and relief from the noise of the everyday life by revealing the rules that shape your understanding of what you experience.

The text includes numerous practical examples and concludes with four sample meditations that demonstrate the possibilities of inner practice. Additional guided meditations can also be found on the Inner Reality Meditations YouTube channel.

David Prikryl, an architect, lives in Prague. When a life crisis brought him to the end of his journey, all that was left for him was an answer to the fundamental question: Why does suffering exist? Why does anything exist at all? What is left, if we ignore the unessential? When he reached understanding, he searched for a message that would be simple, universal, and easily accessible to everyone. This search led to the concept of Inner Reality and, ultimately, to the writing of this book.
