Hip-Hip Hooray is a book relating the experiences of the author as she faced numerous surgeries to repair an artificial hip, which broke after nine years of fantastic service. The saga began in 2003 and continued for two very difficult and painful years. Due to circumstances beyond her control, many serious errors were made in the attempt to repair and restore the hip. The book tells the story of the extraordinary challenges that she faced going through many treatments at three different hospitals and enduring ten surgical procedures.

In addition, the second half of the book is a how-to guide for patients facing joint problems and potential surgery. It is designed to help the reader explore how to find the best doctors, the best hospitals, and the best procedures when one faces serious joint problems. The book stresses how to be a knowledgeable and assertive advocate for yourself in medical challenges.
